Emergency service & out of hours advice.
During the hours the practice is closed we employ a dedicated emergency
service called Vets Now. This is available 24 hours a day 365 days a year
outside normal practice opening hours.
This team of vets and nurses specialise in emergency medicine and surgery
and work throughout the night, weekends and Bank Holidays to ensure our clients
have access to veterinary advice and care outside normal practice hours.
There are strong advantages of using such a service including:
*Staff work night shifts only therefore they are fresh and able to fully
concentrate on the needs of your pet. Many practices offering out of hours'
services call on staff that have worked a long days shift to cover during the
night. This can leave staff tired and drain and unable to concentrate.
*Pets which require an overnight stay are constantly accompanied on the
premises by vets and nursing staff. This means pets are monitored and
supervised throughout their stay leaving you confident they are receiving the
best care. Many out of hours' service briefly check on pets during the night
leaving them unattended and unsupervised.
*Clients feel comfortable calling the Vets Now team to ask for advice at any
time of the night as this is part of their normal working shift. In the past
many clients have felt guilty when calling the out of hours vet as they are
aware they will be waking him/her.
*The practice maintain a close working relationship with Vets Now and see
them as an extension of our own professional service. All patients seen at Vets
Now have full notes sent back to the surgery along with details of any
treatment given. This ensures all our clients are cared for constantly around
the clock.
